Internet2's Senior Vice President and Chief Innovation Officer Florence Hudson will present key information and communications technology trends for research and education enabling an endless frontier of innovation. Topics covered will include the Internet of Things, healthcare and life sciences, precision medicine, the cancer moonshot, and smart campuses and cities. This will enable a discussion on how we can all become an integral part of developing and implementing new solutions that enrich our lives and engagements through technology and business model innovations.

Florence Hudson

Florence Hudson is Senior Vice President and Chief Innovation Officer at Internet2, a not for profit consortium of 315+ academic institutions and 150+ research organizations developing innovations around the Internet. She works with the Research & Education community in the identification and development of new innovations in advanced networking and trust & identity for research and education through Innovation Working Groups in the Internet of Things, End-to-End Trust & Security, Distributed Big Data & Analytics, and Smart Campus, working with universities, industry, national labs, agencies, regional networks and international partners.

Prior to Internet2, Ms. Hudson was with IBM for 33 years in many leadership roles including executive Director and Vice President roles for 16 years. Prior to IBM she worked for Hewlett Packard, NASA, and Grumman Aerospace Corporation. She serves on multiple engineering and technology advisory councils at Princeton University, and has served on Boards including IEC Electronics and the Society of Women Engineers. She was honored as a Top Woman of Machine to Machine in 2014 by Connected World Magazine.

Ms. Hudson graduated from Princeton University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering, and has attended executive education at Harvard Business School and Columbia University.
