As of September, 2026, RPI CCI's AIMOS and AIMOSx are no longer generally available. Here is a statement from Chris Carothers, Director of RPI CCI:
Dear CCI Users,
Since 2019, AIMOS and AIMOSx have provided nearly 110 million GPU-hours, annually supporting $50M in externally funded research and yielding over 500 publications in AI/ML, Computational Science & Engineering, and High-Performance Computing at RPI, IBM, and SUNY. Unfortunately, these systems have operated well beyond their expected lifecycles and lack access to vendor production-quality maintenance support. As such, AiMOS (dcs) and AiMOSx (npl) will transition from the current research production support model to a user-limited, best-effort support model on 9/30/2026. Under this new, extremely limited operational model, most existing user projects will be sunset, and all project data will be removed. This will include: (i) all HPC/COVID-19 Consortium projects, (ii) all AI/ML projects unless a specific exception is granted, (iii) all non-quantum HPC projects unless a specific exception is granted, and (iii) all AI Hardware Center partnership industrial projects due to a lack of system security software patches being available.
If you need assistance with data migration or wish to submit a project exception request, please email CCI Support Staff at cci-support@rpi.edu prior to 9/1/2026.
Note, if you have data stored on the CCI file system, please plan on moving that data off prior to 9/30/2026.
Please stay tuned for additional information as we implement the modified operations.
Thank you for your support of the Center for Computational Innovations at RPI.
Sincerely,
Chris Carothers
